AIFD（アメリカの花協会）が初めて出版したお花のデザインの本、

「Artistic Floral Design 2020」

この本に2000名の会員の中から24名のデザイナーさんの作品が選ばれて載っていますが、

私もその一人として選んで頂きました。

ウエディング用の帽子デザインです。

ミスカンサスという細い葉っぱを何段にも巻いて帽子のベースを作り、

その上にお花をデザインしています。

まして、本のタイトルページの写真にも選んで頂いたのはすごい感激でした。

この本の作品は、AIFDのデザイナーさんたちの繊細で個性的な未発表の作品が載っており、

教育熱心なAIFDの芸術性、理論、などをふまえた初のお花の作品の写真集です。

世界中に会員をお持つAIFDですが、初版本は、１ヶ月で完売になった時は、

さすがに世界に名高いAIFDの写真集だと、驚きました。

選ばれたデザイナーさんは、アメリカは元より、カナダ、ヨーロッパの方、

香港、シンガポール、日本などアジアのデザイナーさんたちも多く、

アジアも確実に世界的なレベルのデザイナーさんたちが育っていることを感じました。

Fusion Flowers Magazineは、スコットランドのお花の出版社であり、発行している雑誌の名前でもあります。

１年に１回「International Desiner of the Yeay!」というお花のコンペティションを開催しています。

４テーマが出題され、そのテーマごとに合わせてデザインし、写真を撮って参加するというコンペティションです。

１０月までに提出した作品を年が明けて結果が発表されるのですが、

２０年１月に結果の発表は連絡が来ていたのですが、

まもなくコロナがパンデミックになり、

今年は、受賞者たちの作品集（デジタルブック）は発売出来ないだろうな・・・・と、思っていたら、

４月に入り、コンペのデジタル本出版の連絡を頂き、

コロナで気持ちがふさぐ中、すごくうれしいお知らせでした。

まず、１月に発売されているFusion Flowers Magazine（リアル雑誌）の中で特集記事があり、

受賞者の名前や代表作品などが掲載されました。

私は、４テーマの中、３作品受賞し、

これはGrowing Spaceというテーマの作品で、

ススキの器の中に春の野草を活け、

季節感を出したかったので、屋外で撮影したら、丁度太陽がスポットライトのようにさしこみ、

私が撮ったとは思えない奇跡の１枚が撮れました。

この作品は銅賞を頂きました。

右側の作品のテーマは「WEDDING」で、ブーケデザインにしました。

リューココリーネのハッと引き付けられるような輝くような紫色がとてもきれいで大好きな花です。

weddingも銅賞を頂きました。

左側の作品は「This is me」というテーマで、

こういう漠然としたテーマって難しいですよね。

大好きな猫柳の芽を１粒１粒小さいものから順番に１ｍぐらいの高さまで敷き詰めていった土台ですが、

ちょっと病的な作業？と思う方も多いかもしれませんが、

今のフラワーデザイン界では当たり前に作業。

そして、私は結構こういう作業が大好きです（笑）

お気に入りの猫柳の土台に何をどんなものを合わせようと悩んでいた時

何年も育てているエピデンドラムがきれいに花を咲かせていて・・・・

「私はどう？」とささやいてくれました。

猫柳のオブジェに生きづいている植物の姿を自分に例えて「This is me」です。

写真は上からのぞいたら、思わずカッコよく撮れて、

フォトグラファーとしての自分も感激の１枚でした。

カメラマンの師匠宮本氏も、「良い写真だね」と褒めてくださり、ご満悦です。

この作品は銀賞を頂きました。

これらの賞をとれたことは、もちろんうれしいのですが、

私にとってコンペティションは、自分の作品を創るいい機会ということと、

世界中のフラワーデザイナーさんたちが同じようにがんばって作品を１年かけて作っていると思うと、

世界中に仲間がいるようでとても楽しいです。

私もがんばらないと！って気にさせてくれます。

フラワーデザインを習ってくださっている生徒さんたちも、

自分の作品を創る楽しさを知って頂けたら、と、思っています。

人生の大きな幸せがそこにあるから。
